On a construction site, a missed call can stop a crane lift, hold up a concrete pour or put someone in the wrong place at the wrong time. Radio Industries supplies two-way radios and accessories built for site conditions, so supervisors, crane crews, traffic controllers and trades can talk instantly across the whole project.
What construction teams use
Rugged handheld radios
IP67 rated digital and UHF handhelds that cope with dust, rain and drops. See handheld radios.
UHF CB radios
Licence-free radios for smaller crews and short-term sites. See UHF radios.
Vehicle and plant radios
Mobile radios for utes, trucks, excavators and site vehicles. See vehicle radios.
Hearing protection headsets
3M PELTOR and Sensear headsets for noisy plant, demolition and crane operators. See headsets.
Push-to-talk over cellular
Connect site offices, project managers and multiple sites over 4G/5G. See PoC radios.
Batteries, chargers and earpieces
Multi-unit chargers, spare batteries and earpieces to keep a fleet running. See accessories.
Features that help on site
Private licensed channels so your crew isn't talking over neighbouring sites
Dust and water sealing (IP67 or better) for outdoor work in all weather
Loud, clear audio and noise-cancelling microphones near machinery
Lone worker and man down alerts for staff working alone or at height
Long battery life to cover a full shift
Coverage for large and multi-level projects
High-rise builds, tunnels and large civil projects can block radio signals. We can plan repeaters and channels so every level and zone stays connected, and arrange private frequency licences. Talk to our system design team about your project.
Supply, programming and support
We program radios before dispatch, supply spares and accessories, and service and repair radios when they need it. We supply construction companies in every state and territory. Contact us for availability, lead times or a suitable alternative.
Construction Two-Way Radios & Site Communication FAQs
Do construction sites need licensed radios?
Not always. UHF CB radios use public channels and need no individual licence, but busy sites often choose commercial radios on a private licensed channel so their crews are not interrupted by other users. We can arrange private frequency licences.
Which radios are best for crane and dogman communication?
Crane crews need clear, reliable audio with no interruptions, so a dedicated channel and a radio with good noise cancelling is important. Many crews also use headsets with hearing protection. Call 1300 266 682 and we will recommend a setup.
How do we keep radios working on high-rise or underground levels?
Concrete and steel block signals, so larger projects often need a repeater. We can assess your site and recommend the right coverage solution.
Can radios be programmed with our site channels before delivery?
Yes. Send us your channel plan and we will program the radios so they are ready to use when they arrive.
Do you supply chargers and spare batteries for a whole fleet?
Yes. We supply multi-unit chargers, spare batteries, earpieces and other accessories for most major brands. See accessories.
