Practical guidance on UHF CB, private channels and ACMA requirements.
Hire or buy
Motorola and Delta stock to hire now, and the option to own radios later.
Choosing the right radios for your hire
UHF CB or private channels. UHF CB is shared and free to use, so it can get busy at large events. Our standard hire is programmed on Radio Industries’ private channels for clearer, more private communication. Our guide to ACMA frequency licensing explains the difference, and the ACMA website has the official rules.
Analogue or digital DMR. Analogue suits most short events. Digital DMR gives clearer audio towards the edge of coverage and suits larger sites and longer hires.
Coverage. Buildings, terrain and site layout all affect range. Tell us where your team will work and we’ll recommend radios to match.

Two-Way Radio Hire FAQs
What is the minimum hire period?
Two days. Weekend bookings are charged as three days.
Which radios can I hire?
Motorola and Delta handheld radios in analogue or digital DMR. We’ll recommend what suits your team and site.
What is the difference between the weekly pack and custom hire?
The 6-Radio Weekly Pack is a fixed set of six radios and a six-bay charger at a set weekly price. Custom hire covers any quantity, accessories and fleet matching, quoted for your job.
What comes with each hired radio?
A battery, belt clip and charger, with standard programming on Radio Industries’ private channels. Earpieces and speaker microphones are available on custom hire.
Can hired radios talk to our existing radios?
Often, yes. We check equipment compatibility and frequency permissions first. Customer-specific programming is charged separately.
Do you deliver everywhere in Australia?
Yes. Freight is calculated from your delivery address and added to your invoice.
