Film set two-way radios for quiet, reliable crew communication
Film sets, TV studios, outside broadcasts and live events need crews to talk constantly without being heard on camera. Radio Industries supplies hands-free full-duplex intercoms, discreet radios with earpieces and push-to-talk over cellular for producers, floor managers, camera, grip, locations and safety teams, to buy or hire. Our film set two-way radios stay quiet on camera and clear between takes.
What production crews use
Full-duplex intercoms
Delta Freecom systems let crew talk and listen hands-free, like a phone call.
Discreet radios
Compact radios such as the Motorola Curve, Hytera S1 Pro and Kenwood PKT-300. See handheld radios.
Earpieces and headsets
Covert earpieces and single-ear headsets for quiet sets. See earpieces.
Push-to-talk over cellular
Keep unit bases, locations and transport connected across a city. See PoC radios.
Repeaters
Cover studios, backlots and large locations. See repeaters.
Radio hire
Radios, headsets and chargers for short shoots and events. See two-way radio hire.
What matters on set
Silent operation with earpieces so radios stay off the soundtrack
Hands-free talk for camera, grip and floor crew
Separate channels for production, locations, safety and transport
Long battery life for long shooting days
Quick turnaround with hire for one-off productions
Many productions own a core kit of radios and earpieces, then add two-way radio hire for big shoot days, location moves or live broadcasts. We can supply both, programmed so owned and hired radios share the same channels, with spare batteries, multi-chargers and earpieces packed in the case.
Supply and support
We program radios before dispatch, supply chargers and accessories, and repair radios. Private business channels are licensed through an ACMA land mobile licence, and we can arrange this for you. Contact us for availability, lead times or a suitable alternative.
Two-Way Radios for Film, Television & Broadcasting FAQs
How do film crews talk without being heard on camera?
Crews use radios with covert earpieces, or full-duplex intercoms with lightweight headsets, and keep speakers off. See earpieces.
What is a full-duplex intercom?
It lets several people talk and listen at the same time without pressing a button, like a phone call. The Delta Freecom is a licence-free example.
Can we hire radios for a shoot?
Yes. We hire radios, headsets and chargers Australia-wide. See two-way radio hire.
Can unit bases and locations talk across a city?
Yes. Push-to-talk over cellular uses the mobile network, so crews can talk between locations. See PoC radios.
Can different departments have their own channels?
Yes. We program separate channels for production, camera, locations, safety and transport. Call 1300 266 682.
