Radio Communication System Design & Consulting Australia
Complete two-way radio communication systems designed around your coverage, site, safety and operational requirements.
From DMR and repeater systems to private frequencies, dispatch and Push-to-Talk over Cellular, Radio Industries provides end-to-end system design, supply and ongoing technical support.
What is radio communication system design?
Radio communication system design is the process of assessing where and how a team needs to communicate, identifying coverage, capacity, safety and operational requirements, then engineering the appropriate radio technology and infrastructure.
A system may include UHF or VHF radios, DMR digital radio, private frequencies, repeaters, antennas, dispatch software, GPS, communication headsets or Push-to-Talk over Cellular connectivity.
A Reliable Radio System Starts Before You Choose the Radio
Buying a more powerful or more expensive radio does not automatically solve communication problems.
Buildings, terrain, distance, interference, team structure, noise levels and operating procedures can all affect performance. Radio Industries approaches each requirement as a complete communication system rather than simply recommending a handheld radio.
Our system designers consider:
- Required radio coverage area
- Buildings, basements and structural obstructions
- Number of users and operational teams
- UHF versus VHF requirements
- Analogue versus DMR digital radio
- Private ACMA frequency requirements
- Repeater and antenna infrastructure
- High-noise communication requirements
- GPS and dispatch requirements
- Future expansion and system scalability

Practical answers to common questions about coverage, licensing, radio technology and communication system design.
How do you design a two-way radio communication system?
We start by understanding where users operate, how many people need to communicate, required coverage, buildings or terrain, safety requirements and existing communication problems. Appropriate radio technology, frequencies, infrastructure and equipment can then be selected.
Do we need a radio repeater?
Not every system requires one. A repeater may be appropriate where distance, buildings, terrain or other obstacles prevent reliable direct radio communication.
Should a business use UHF CB or a private radio frequency?
UHF CB may suit some applications. Businesses requiring greater control over communications may benefit from an ACMA-licensed private frequency. The correct approach depends on the operational requirement.
What is the difference between analogue and DMR digital radio?
Analogue provides straightforward voice communication, while DMR digital systems can support additional capacity, talkgroups, identification and advanced system features.
Can Radio Industries review our existing radio system?
Yes. Existing systems can be reviewed for coverage, equipment compatibility, capacity, reliability and potential upgrade requirements.
