Instant communication across the school grounds

Schools, TAFEs and universities use two-way radios to keep staff connected during playground duty, sports carnivals, excursions, lockdown drills and day-to-day operations. Radios are instant, simple to use and don't rely on mobile reception, so a teacher on the oval can reach the front office in seconds. Radio Industries is a supplier to NSW public schools and supports education customers Australia-wide.

What schools use

Compact handheld radios

Lightweight radios that are easy for staff to carry all day. See handheld radios.

UHF CB radios

Licence-free radios for excursions, carnivals and smaller campuses. See UHF radios.

Value packs

Multi-radio packs with chargers, ready for a whole staff team. See value packs.

Earpieces

Discreet earpieces so messages aren't heard by students. See earpieces.

Why schools choose radios

  • One button to talk to every staff member at once
  • Private channels so you are not interrupted by nearby users
  • Reliable in an emergency, including lockdowns and evacuations
  • No call costs and no reliance on mobile coverage
  • Multi-unit chargers to keep every radio ready

Covering large campuses

Multi-building campuses and sports fields can be hard to cover with handhelds alone. We can recommend higher-powered radios, a repeater or a private channel licence. Talk to us about your campus.

Supply and support

We program radios before dispatch, supply accessories and repair radios when needed, with purchase orders welcome. Contact us for availability, lead times or a suitable alternative.

Two-Way Radios for Schools & Education FAQs

Are you an approved supplier to schools?

Yes. Radio Industries supplies NSW public schools and education customers across Australia, and we can quote against your purchase order.

Do schools need a licence to use two-way radios?

Not for UHF CB radios, which are licence free. Commercial radios on a private channel need an ACMA licence, which we can help arrange. See frequency licences.

How many radios does a school need?

Most schools start with radios for the front office, executive staff and staff on duty, then add more for carnivals and excursions. Tell us about your school and we will suggest a number.

Can radios help during a lockdown or evacuation?

Yes. Radios let staff share information instantly with everyone at once, without relying on mobile phones or the PA system.

Do you sell radios in packs with chargers?

Yes. Our value packs include multiple radios with a charger, ready to use.
